You can spend a lifetime trying to fit in where you don’t belong. And you’ll learn a lot from it. But when you’re done, and you take all those beautiful and hard lessons and walk away, something unexpected happens. You see the places where you have always belonged, always been welcomed, always been loved for exactly who you are and everything you bring. And you realize it’s better then enough. It’s everything.

If the topic of BELONGING has been as present for you as it has been for me, I highly suggest the following resources. I truly believe we are experiencing a crisis in belonging as a culture — as a species even — and that coming to a better understanding of this critical skill is essential for our survival. It’s going to take each of us to get there:

Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone by Brene Brown

Belonging: Remembering Ourselves Home by Toko-Pa Turner

If Women Rose Rooted: A Journey to Authenticity and Belonging by Sharon Blackie
